Below is a list of regulations you will need to know about Folly Beach to ensure that when you visit our island you will know how to stay on the right side of the law!
Parking
Parking is allowed on all streets on Folly Beach, but you must be facing the correct direction on the road and  have all four wheels off of the road surface.
Pay to park lots are at every full block beach access and the washout. The cost is $1 per hour. Please follow all parking directions at the pay to park box. Folly residents with the current year parking sticker on their windshield park for free at these areas.

Surfing
Between May 15 and September 15 from 10am to 6pm surfing is allowed only in the following areas:
From 7th st. West to the West end of Folly Island
From 6th st. East to the East end of Folly Island
Between  September 16th to May 14th there are no areas where surfing is prohibited on Folly Island, with the exception of no surfing within 200' of any fishing pier.
A leash must be used at all times attaching the surfer to the surfboard.

Dog Leash Laws
Dogs must be leashed at all times.
No dogs on the beach from May 15th to September 15th between 10am and 6pm.
Dogs are allowed on the beach at all times between September 16th and May 15th.
Please pick up your pet waste by using one of the many mutt mitt dispensers, or dog rockets attached to the public walkovers. The #1 source of fecal coliform in our coastal waters comes from domestic pets. Do your part, pick up the poop!

Beach Access
Public beach access walkovers are located at every block and half block up to the County Park on the West side and the Washout on the East side.
DO NOT WALK ON THE DUNES!!!! Cutting, breaking or destroying sea oats at Folly Beach is illegal, and comes with a heavy fine.

Glass Containers
All glass containers are prohibited on the beach.

Recycling and Garbage
At each beach access, you will find at least one trash can for you to deposit your trash when you leave the beach. Please don't leave your trash on the beach for someone else to pick up, it's illegal and just plain dumb!
Recycling bins are located at the washout and at each beach access from 2nd st. East to 3rd st. West. They are maintained by Surfrider volunteers, but please help us keep them clean and keep the recyclables out of the garbage, and the garbage out of the recyclables.
